My beloved homeland, Malaysia is turning 56 in just 2 days time!
This iconic photo of our first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman declaring the independence of Malaysia was taken a good 56 years ago. Can you believe it?
Every year, there will be National Parade on Merdeka Day to celebrate the independence of our country. It's always a joyous and colourful celebration!
I still remember waking up early in the morning on 31st August every year when I was little. Before we even change out of my pyjamas, me and my sisters would sit in front of the TV to catch the beautiful National Parade. There will always be a sense of patriotism whenever we watch the parade, and I always love the feeling of being proud of how far my country has come.
However, not everyone participates in the National Day parade every year. Some of us just prefer to watch the full celebration on TV from the comfort of our homes, and I admit I'm one of them :P
This year, Maxis started a'Unite for Malaysia Parade'for Malaysians like you and me to participate in the Merdeka March...virtually! This is especially great for peeps who aren't able to make it to the Merdeka March physically :)
This is really cute as you'll be able to see who else is participating in our virtual Merdeka Parade!
And it's really simple to participate as well.
There are TWO ways to be a part of this Unite for Malaysia Parade.
#1:
Upload your photo onto your Instagram or Twitter account, and hashtag your picture with #unite4msia
#2:
Simply upload your photo from your desktop/laptop to join the parade on the website HERE! Remember to hashtag #unite4msia in your entries too! :)
For me, I chose to participate in the Unite for Malaysia Parade via the website. I'll let you know why later ;)
For those of you who chose the second option like me, simply choose any selfie/portait photo of you wearing any colour of our National flag, or a patriotic photo of you with the Malaysian flag, and upload it together with your patriotic caption! ;)
And this is the selfie that I submitted, wearing our Malaysian jersey colour! ;)
It's just that simple. Now I'm just waiting for my submission to be processed, and then, I'll be able to see myself in line for the National Parade together with thousands of other Malaysians.
Oh, look who's spearheading the National Parade? ;)
It's none other than Dato' Lee Chong Wei! Super cool!
For the most interesting and creative photos submitted, your photos will be included in Maxis' Malaysia Day print ad on 16th September 2013! Be sure to submit your best photos and stand a chance to be featured!
What are your Merdeka stories or moments? Share it with us! :)
