Life in the Fat Lane

For the past 3 years of Degree life + freelance jobs, I'd never actually gotten the privilege of "wasting time" that most youths had. Whenever I had the time, it was always to sleep or hang out with friends and family who are dear to me.

BUT, now that I'm done being a student (hehehe can't emphasize that enough), I can now cut myself some slack and officially relive my "youth-hood". At the age of 22 (still 22), it's my first time after so long, playing the famous Tetris Battle that most people around been had been hooked since ages ago. I'm still honing my skills playing with strangers cos I don't wanna embarrass myself playing with fwens :")

Aside from that, I have been on a sleeping marathon. Every moment feels like the right moment to sleep, and of course, that is much thanks to the wonderful rainy weather these days :))

And aside from those, I've been eating like mad :)) Pre-wedding shoot is over, and pre-wedding video shoot is not in the next 3 weeks, so I decided to give myself the allowance to pig out slightly :) Ok a bit more than slightly :)

One of the best places to snack out- Jonker Street!

The photos were all taken with the Casio ZR20, High Speed Night Scene mode :)

Meet the 3 joys in my life.
Watching them is like a movie in real life. Okay I don't know if that made any sense, but my point is that they're just really interesting to watch. Everything they do and say is just so innocent and funny :)

People actually sit and yumcha just to listen to the old folks singing. I really like that culture and lifestyle...so communal :)

Writing with her elbow :)

Epic "mua-chi"

The sisters :)

Mini portuguese egg tarts!

A scene from a horror movie.

Hehehe check out Charity's teethless smile :DD

"Hi Sung...."

The High Speed Night Scene feature is really pretty epic.
This was taken with the Normal mode.

While this was taken with the High Speed Night Scene mode.
Look at the massive difference! It lights up the entire picture, and now you can really capture photos in the dark without the glaring flash! :)

Random: The only Korean sentence I used to know from all the Korean dramas was,

"Oppa Ngueh?"
(which meant "Why, brother?")
Erm...right?

Now I know another sentence!
"Oppa Gangnam Style".

Ok bye.

The Life I want

Too often we listen to an inspiring message, be extremely moved and touched, get our lives and minds transformed for just a moment, and then we forget and go back to where we started. Be it an inspiring quote we read and share on Facebook, an inspiring book we read, or an inspiring speech.

Being born into a Christian family, and being rooted in a church like City Harvest Church KL, where we get to listen to so many amazing messages week after week, I confess that we're sometimes too spoiled. And I admit that I'm one of the many who have the tendency of being inspired for just the moment, and then nothing happens. No real transformation, just emotions.

But today, as I sat in the church auditorium, I wasn't particularly "super inspired" like how we feel when we listen to a mind-blowing sermon. Rather, I was just really hearing. And my heart ached as it went along.

Pastor Bill Wilson preached about how One Man Can Make a Difference. The title sounded like a typical inspiring message, and I've heard so much about this man, so I kinda expected and looked forward to see and know for myself just why this man is as great as people rave of him.

He was a great speaker. Charismatic, engaging and relevant. I loved his preaching. But more than that, his words did not fall to the ground. I had a constant reflection upon my own life as he spoke.

I always reflect upon my life. Over the years of being in CHCKL, I've learnt how to be grateful, and thanking God for all the good things and great people He has put into my life. No doubt, I have a real blessed life. I may not live luxuriously, but I always have enough. I have a great God, great church, great fiancé, great family, great future in-laws, great education, great jobs, great friends, great future ahead. Everything in my life has just been smooth, and God's been faithful. Life's just beautiful, and I've always taken joy and pride that I'm just...blessed.

As Pastor Bill Wilson spoke about having battles in life, I started to think of the battles I've had. To me, perhaps the greatest battle I've had to deal with thus far is having my dearest belongings forcefully taken from me all at once. That's painful and traumatizing to say the least, but...that's it. As compared to what Pastor Bill has been through all his life, having been unwanted and dumped by his mother, been shot in the face, chest, broken bones all over his body, and hearing about what the other side of the world is going through: children living the The City of the Skulls in the Philippines, amongst the dead, corpse and skulls, suddenly all my "battles" seemed so, so small.

From then, I started to feel that while it's amazing being blessed and favoured, I wanted to do more with my life. If one person like Pastor Bill can change the lives of thousands of children, I can too. We can too.

To me, one of the saddest things about life, is when you die having lived ONLY for yourself.

Your complains are only about how unfulfilled your life is, how your food sucked, how bored, tired and discouraged you are, etc. These days, people wear their hearts on their Tweets, and from there, we can really see just what springs out of their lives, and sadly, we really do live in a self-centred world.

See, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to preach a self-righteous message about how people around me are selfish and that they need to change. If you've been reading my blog long enough, you know that this is a "vanity blog" as they say. It's mostly pretty pictures, few words. And I hardly blog lengthy posts like this with zero photos, because I know that people are just not interested with long, wordy posts.

But when I do, these posts are the ones that mean the most to me, words that come from my heart. Posts that are sincere and genuine. Posts that I would read back and reflect again. Posts that I would stay up until 2am in the morning to just blog my heart out.

Pastor Bill went out of his way, all the way out, just to save ONE life, ONE African baby from dying. Imagine how impacted the boy would feel when he grows up one day, knowing that a stranger FOUGHT for him to live, fought for his life. The chances of this boy turning into a delinquent might possibly be close to zero. Because he was rescued, his life became so much more precious. He would be compelled to pass this forward, and cycle continues.

This is Christ-like, just like Him for went out of His way to give us life. And I want to be like that, to go out of my way for someone.

"When the battle is on, we know what's in you"

"You never really know what's inside a tube of toothpaste until it is squeezed."

"Don't quit, don't give up. Because you have an important place in the battle"

"I'm only one person, but one person can make a difference"

"God uses ordinary people, to do extraordinary things"

"I can't do everything, but I can do something.
I can't be everywhere, but I can be somewhere.
I can't reach everybody, but I can reach somebody."

- Pastor Bill Wilson

At the end of my life, I don't wish to lie on my death bed and thank God for a smooth and easy life. Rather, I want to be able to thank God for using me to create life for other people.

This is the life worth living, and the life I want.

There is still so much more to be done. Imagine just what you can do if you are open and willing to be used. Just take time, and imagine.

Ever heard of a self-portrait camera? ;)

Ladies (and also gentlemen who secretly or even publicly love to camho), I'm so so pleased to announce that, yes, there is such a thing as that! This camera is not just a self-portrait camera, but it's a damn awesome one, I kid you not!

Before I introduce the features of this brilliant camho camera, let me show you just how awesome it looks.

Don't they look gorgeous? :))

Casio, which is well-known for many things such as watches and calculators, have come up with many camera range including the brilliant Casio Exilim ZR20 (check out my blog post about it HERE and HERE), and recently launched the new Casio Exilim EX-TR150 digital compact camera, specially catering to camho lovers like me! :))

Here are some of the features of the TR150:

12.1 Megapixels
Back-illuminated CMOS sensor
Wide Angle 21mm Single-Focus Lens
3.0 inch Super Clear LCD Screen
Countdown Timer
Face-recognition
High Speed Anti-Shake
Full HD Movie
Make-Up Mode
Decorative Function

I want to thank Casio from the bottom of my heart for yet another powerful & awesome Casio camera! This new Casio TR150 is not yet in the Malaysian market, yet it's already been in my hands for months (Yes, I've  been having fun exploring this new baby! Just no time to update as yet. But, here it is!).

Seriously, I always say this, but let me say this right here on my blog:

Japanese are BRILLIANT!

They never fail to be innovative, creative and meet the needs of various people, including camhos like me! I'm just so impressed that they actually make camho such a breeze right now cos the whole camera is just here to make camhoring easier, more fun and convenient!

I mean, who else in the world cares about camhoring needs??
JAPANESE ROCK MY SOCKS! Arigato Gozaimasu! :))

Say hello to my new love :)

I'm so glad I got a white one for myself! The Casio TR150 is literally the size of my iPhone 4S, and weighs almost the same too!

Whenever I whip out my new love to take photos, people around me would curiously ask me what new phone this is. They usually stare at me in disbelief with I tell them this is actually a camera, a camho camera. Canggih maximum! Did I tell you that I love the Japanese?

It comes with a stylus for the LCD screen, and has a camera frame which can rotate 360 degrees around the lens, and a monitor that rotates 270 degrees

With such flexibility, I can literally take photos from all angles! :)

One of the major features that the Casio TR150 boasts of is the Makeup Mode. This feature magically smoothens the skin, gives a glow and radiance, and removes fine lines and blemishes completely!

The Makeup Mode option ranges from Level 0 (which is normal mode) to 12.
Here are some (okay not some, quite many :P) photos from Level 0-12 range.

Makeup Mode: Level 0

This is without the Makeup Mode yet.
You can spot little fine lines under my eyes.

Okay enough.
Now on to Makeup Mode in Level 6!

Makeup Mode: Level 6

Tadda! Can you see that my skin (including my arms) have been magically smoothened? ;) And this is only Level 6, my dear friends!

Could you spot the difference?
Now, on to the highest level of 12!

Makeup Mode: Level 12

Now I literally look air-brushed and photoshopped kao kao.
But I wasn't! It's just the awesome Makeup Mode in Level 12 :))

My skin never looked so smooth and fair in my life.
*cries happy tears* :')

Now I finally caught a glimpse of how I'd look like if I had fair, porcelain skin.
*dreamy mode*

This is a graceful 'headache' pose.
Hahahahaahah!

DO YOU SEE THE MASSIVE DIFFERENCE??

This camera is simply awesome. If you love to camho (just like me hehe), this is the camera for you, my dears. There are so many more features that I've yet to explore with! Will be updating more on this soon! :)

In the meantime, visit and *like* Casio Exilim Malaysia's Facebook Page and Twitter to get updated on the latest Casio cameras and goodies to be won! :)

You can also Facebook message them on their FB page to find out more about when and where you can get your hands on this brilliant machine! It's selling for only RM1899 :)

P/S: Did you realize that I had both my hands to myself during these camho sessions? Find out how I did it in the next post! ;)

The Trusted Relief

$

This #21stCenturyPain is very real.

Most students and working professionals experience this almost on a daily basis. And this is none other than the neck, shoulder and back ache resulting from long hours in front of the computer. This problem has been loudly highlighted all over the net, teaching us how to adopt the right sitting posture to avoid such stiffness and ache.

These are just a few of the manyyyyyy instructions I found on the net. Over the years as a student with tonnes of assignments, a blogger with never-ending stories to share and a mini entrepreneur with an online blogshop, I spend most of my waking hours working at the desk, on my lappie.

Sometimes, no matter how I tried to adopt the right sitting posture, the right distance away from the screen and so on, I still feel the sore and ache on my neck and shoulders after sitting put for a few hours. Especially for yours truly, when inspiration and motivation comes, I cannot leave elsewhere! The moment I move, I'll be distracted and my hard-earned concentration would be gone :')

What we usually do with those aches is....well, nothing. This is simply because we're living such face-paced lives without the luxury of time to carefully attend to them, that aches like these would be easily ignored by us. I, for one, am guilty of it!

Now, there's an effective and convenient solution to the problem we all busy and time-starved peeps face.
Tiger Balm to the rescue, people!

Many of us remember the brand, Tiger Balm in the old packaging as below.
But now, they have an all-new modern packaging especially for the Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub!

Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub comes in 2 variants:

The Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub (left) comes with a soothing lavender fragrance that provides lasting relief for mild neck and shoulder aches, while the Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub Boost (right) has a refreshing scent that invigorates, and at the same time, provides extra strength and lasting relief for over-stressed, tired and stiff neck and shoulder muscles.

Now, what I personally love about these 2 powerhouse are simply these:

#1: They're Effective

I've used them on several occasions, and found them to be a real relief! The quick, cooling effect (which later translates into the heating effect when it's at work) really eases whatever discomfort I'm feeling. As the packaging states, if you want the extra boost, use the Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub Boost. Else, the normal one would be effective enough :)

#2: They're Non-Greasy

I'm really particular about what I put on my skin, especially the texture of the creams, lotions, etc that I apply on my face and body. I absolutely loathe products that are greasy and oily, which leaves the skin feeling warm and sticky. A huge no-no! These Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rubs are specially formulated in a non-greasy texture for people like me :D The application is easy, fuss-free, and the best part about it is that after applying for a few minutes, you can't even feel the products on your skin as they're thoroughly absorbed. Which is absolutely awesome! Try it to believe, really :)

#3: They're Convenient

First of all, instead of sticking our finger into the old, glass bottles which usually gets our nails all stuck with the product, now, we can just squeeze the product from the 50g flat tube, and just apply. No need to think about cleaning our fingernails thereafter ;)

Secondly, I love the packaging and size of the product! As you can see from the photo above, the colour and design of the product is modern and sleek, and best of all, they're palm-sized which allows me to easily slip it into my bag (even if you have a bag full of stuff, like mine!). It is literally "Massage on the Go" for those with hectic lifestyles, as we can now bring it with us anywhere without having to worry about dirtying our nails, or it being too big and inconvenient to bring around. Now, we can rejuvenate and relieve the tense muscles on our neck and shoulders practically anytime, anywhere :)

Now that you've heard about why I love them, here are some facts that differentiates the Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub from others :)

#1:
It is created and manufactured by Tiger Balm, world renowned and trusted brand in providing quality products for relief of aches and pains for almost a century. It is also approved by the Ministry of Health, and is now widely used in various countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA, and many others.

#2:
Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub is the ONLY PRODUCT available in the market that has a special formulation to specifically target the aches and tension in muscles and around the neck & shoulder area.

They're now available in leading pharmacies and Aeon Wellness stores :)

If you wanna know more about this product, you can visit the Tiger Balm Corporate Website at www.tigerbalm.com, or contact +603-79660763 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm).

Now, you know what to do with those aches! ;)

adidas King of the Road 2012

I had never liked running. That's like at the top of my Loathe List.

The thing I hated most when I used to do bootcamp was always long distance running. I just somehow felt like puking each time I ran, and I'd feel like dying. Even if I didn't, I would pretend to be dying. Which none of the instructors would believe :')

It's not until last month that my life took a turn. For the first time EVER, I was excited to run! Signed up for The Neon Run organized by Emerge KL, and ran a whooping (okay maybe not so massive to some of you) 7KM! *gaspppppp*

Words couldn't explain how I felt when I laid on the CHCKL carpark after crossing the finish line within 60 mins!

It felt as if I lost 10 kg. It felt as if I'm the fittest woman in the world! It felt as if I could pull a van!
It felt......

Since then, I'd been kinda excited at the thought of running. The challenge of it can be pretty addictive I would say. The typical blur me didn't know that registrations for King of the Road had closed way back in July! So I requested for two passes just a week before the run, and everything was confirmed so quickly and smoothly for me. Thanks adidas Malaysia for being so super kind to me :')

Received my pack just the night before, and was excited to the point that I checked out every single thing in the pack and took photos of everything. Yeah yeah I know whatchu gon say...

Tried to sleep early but failed. Ended up with only 4 hours of sleep, but I was surprised at myself that I had no problem getting outta bed! What happened to Careen Tan???

The sky at 6.30am.

This is probably the only time we can lie down on the road without getting rolled over. I so wanted to do that but Boon looked at me one kind, so I felt shy to do it.

Maybe the next King of the Road.
:D

Isn't it tempting to just do a lie-down shot here? Right here?? Don't you agree it'll be epic??

Mr. Boon says no.

So I acted gentle and shy and didn't do it.

See just how ONZ we were!
Took so many pictures! And no I didn't force Boon into this!

Everyone was warming up and readeh to go!

Paramedics and ambulances were on standby just in case people like me pengsan.

The atmosphere did help a lot! While we were waiting at the starting line, there was a sea of people excitedly chatting while the loud, pumping music was at the background. No wonder I felt so pumped up at freaking 6.30am!

Couldn't believe we actually found familiar faces amongst the sea of peeps!

Just take a look at this! We were kiasu so we stood quite front (even though we know we can't even make it to Top 100). Look at the people behind us!

While lining up, I saw around me so many professional, avid runners who were fully geared and prepared with their canggih iPods, earphone, waist bag thingy that could fit some energy drinks and energy bars (???), while yours truly only a tiny bottle of water in hand. It suddenly occurred to me that probably 10KM wasn't for me, so I invited Boon to go for breakfast with me...hehehe

But of course, being the sweetheart that he is, he told me not to be nervous and just enjoy the run. Promised that he would run beside me :) So I was all readeh and pumped up once again to RUN and win Top 3!

The whistle sounded, and everyone started to pick up the pace from walking (too many people to start off running) to running. The minute I started to find my comfortable pace (which everyone says is very important), and this happened.

Boon: "Aiyo bee, I think....I wanna pee."
Me: "Huh? Now??? We just started!"
Boon: "Ok nevermind. I can tahan."

*5 seconds later*

Boon: "Bee I think I cannot tahan...give me 1 minute ok?" *zooms off*

I was like, "whattttttt???"

When I saw the line at the washroom I was like, "Major Whattttttttt?????" Why so many people feel like peeing ONLY after the race starts??? :')

There I was...standing there.
As I saw all the people running pass me, I saw my Top 3 trophy slowly being taken away....

They say love keeps no record of wrongs, so we continued running! The first KM was not much of a problem.

After the 2nd KM, life became tougher.

As you can see, I looked pretty pissed. Pissed at what, I don't know. Just pissed.

When we headed towards the toll house, I was so excited! For the first time ever, I can do THIS!

I "Touched & Go" ;)
hahahaha okay.

After the 3rd KM, it felt a little better due to the momentum.

After the 4th KM, life got tougher again. As you can see, it was a forced smile.

After the 5th KM, I almost died. My legs went jelly and my vision went blur. True story.
And best part was, I was ONLY HALFWAY :') Seeing people running at the opposite direction (those who already ran more than halfway) made it worse.

There were paramedics on motorcycles constantly on the lookout for people who need medication, muscle spray, etc. They were so efficient that the moment you stop, even just to tie your shoe lace, they'd quickly swing by and ask if you need help.

At the point I really wanted to pretend to have a leg cramp and get them to carry me back to Sunway Pyramid. That 5km mark was super tough to go through....

But Boon cheered me on and got me to find my "targets" along the NPE columns/pillars. It sure did help. I was so into it that I totally missed the 6KM sign to take pics.

Throughout the entire run, there were videographers on motocycles recording our suffering. And photographers on the lookout for The Ridiculously Photogenic Guy. When Jin Chong tagged us a photo on Facebook, we were pleasantly surprise that out of 10,000 people, the both of us were captured! :))

But, it was not so pleasant afterall when I saw how I looked when I was in deep suffering.

This, my friends, is the face of DETERMINATION.

Can't believe Boon could still manage to look at the camera and smile (??!). The happiest runner award goes to Boon, really! Hahahaha

I wish the 13KM was for me but no...hehe

At the 8th KM, there were people playing instruments and cheered us on. I'd say it did help a bit :) Loved the entire atmosphere!

"Touched and Go" again :D

After the 8th KM!
Check out the sea of people behind me!

9th KM!!!

And we FINISHED!!!

Done 10KM in 1 hour, 35 mins.
Not the best, but I really thought I'd complete it at 2pm.

The super cool medal! I really love how the organizers put so much attention into details. Everything was carried out so smoothly and excellently!

Through this, I learned a few things:

#1: Running with people who will cheer you on helps A LOT.
Probably some of you would feel that running alone is better as you are more focused, and you don't have to wait up for your friends. But in my case where we run for fun, having people running beside you, with you really makes it much easier :)

#2: Keep running! Never stop (except to take pictures).
Even when I stopped for pictures, it was tougher to regain momentum each time. But well..... :) hehe

I really do feel that lessons learnt from running can be applied to life too. It teaches one so many things. One thing for sure is that, I'll never look at my favourite highway the same way again! In a good way :)

I'mma QUEEN OF THE ROAD, baybeh! ;)

See you at the next King of the Road!

So when we reached Brussels, we were quickly served with 1 litre of beer each! My, the Oktoberfest beer stein was sure heavy! It was a workout in itself! :P

German PSY? ;)

He could sing the entire song in Korean! The band was amazing as well. Something new to hear the song being played and sung LIVE, by a German band ;)

Casio TR150: Suspended Shooting + Decorative Function,

$
0

After my first post on Casio Exilim TR150, many people (girls and guys alike!) have been asking me whether this camera REALLY is as awesome as it seems, cause it's really unbelievable how a camera can function in so many amazing ways.

Well, in this post, I'm gonna share with you other amazing features that the Casio TR150 has! Now, aside from the super awesome Make-up Mode (you can read and see all my picture comparisons HERE), this camera really caters to the needs of camhos like you and I ;)

Let me show you just why.

This was taken on a random brunch date with my buddy, Jane. I was wearing only eye liner and compact powder. Yet, I looked like I had more makeup on than that!

Photo was taken in Make-up Mode: Level 6 ;)

So this is the excited Jane Leong experimenting with my new baby.

This, my friends, is one of the special features that the Casio TR150 boasts about:

SUSPENDED SHOOTING!

You can hang the camera practically ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE, and take pictures from ANY angle! This is simply amazing!

As much as I love to camho (because no one knows my best angles better than I do :P), I absolutely hate the fact that while holding our cameras, our elongated arms will inevitably appear in our camho photo. Especially in a group shot, the side person who holds the camera will be the most kesian because he/she would tend to look bigger, fatter, and have elongated arms.

Now with the Suspended Shooting feature where we can place or hand the camera ANYWHERE, everyone can appear pretty and hensem in all the group camho photos! ;)

Look! No hands attached! :P

But of course, this wouldn't be possible without the Timer Function! :)
You can set your timer to 2secs or 10secs (My favorite. Ample time to prepare and strike a pose), and it activates the moment you tap onto the LCD screen. Just like that! :)

This seriously makes camhoring a bliss.

The timer I mentioned earlier.
Super awesome!

Here's another fun & interesting feature of the Casio TR150:

Decorative Function

Whoever said we can only edit our photos on phones and computers obviously isn't updated enough to know about this camera ;)

Let me show you how fun this is. First of all, let's choose an item!

I chose my red rose hair pin.

Took a picture of it with the TR150.

Go to Menu -> Cut Out Subjects

Start lining the subject with the given stylus.

Andddd we're done! The red rose is now cut out!

Next, let's choose a photo for us to place the red rose on.

I chose this photo of me & Boon on his birthday celebration :)

Go to Menu -> Paste Subject

This would be my Background Image.

While this would be my Subject.

Now, the red rose has appeared on my photo! Let's resize it :)

Simply resize by 'minimizing' or 'maximizing' the red rose, and move to your desired spot.

Anddddd we're done! I know have a red rose on my hair ;)

It kinda looks real & believable afterall! ;)

Now let's try another style of Decorative Function!

Chose one of the pages of my planner.

Drew a heart right in the middle of the page.
See where my stylus was at? If you press than 'Switch' icon, the cut-out would be reversed!

Tadda!
Next, we go to Menu -> Paste Subject

I chose my Background Image to be another photo of me & Boon during his birthday ;)

And my Subject to the my planner page.

Then, I placed the heart shape right in the middle...

 And there we have it!

Happy AnNEOversary!

Did you know that it's been ONE WHOLE YEAR since the start of my adidas NEO journey?

A year ago, I received a Direct Message on Twitter from Jac, asking if I was interested to be a part of this campaign. We met up shortly after, I agreed to join the rest of the 9 bloggers, and that's where it all started :) *not what some claimed to be that they helped me gain this title ahermmm*

I still remember telling Leonard that I felt super intimidated by the rest of the bloggers as some of them were so much more seasoned that me, needless to say, with a bigger fan base and readership too! Never ever would I have thought that I could actually be in the Top 3, what more else to win!

All throughout the 2 months of activities, videoing, picture-taking and blogging about adidas NEO, I came to love this brand, the apparels, the Streething team I worked closely with, and also all the bloggers who were on board.

I would say that it was really an uphill climb! Throughout the 2 months, all my mind could think of was to brainstorm for fresh, creative, fun and crazy ideas for NEO. So I woke up one fine morning, and randomly decided to do this!

55, 961 views to date! My single most viewed video. Hahahah!

And because I was crazy enough to attempt this for NEO, I actually got my YouTube crush, Ryan Higa to promote my video on his FB & Google+ *cries*

He commented on my YouTube video *cries*

Best part is, he replied my tweet and FOLLOWED ME ON TWITTER! This is a money-can't-buy happiness!!! :")))

Ryan, if you're reading this, know that you made a not-so-young-anymore girl super happy even after one year. That was my only starstruck experience! *cries* :')

And after a long climb, I finally and unbelievably won the competition!
Since then, I had been the first and official adidas NEO ambassador! :)

Can you believe that everything happened a year ago?? WOW.

So after winning the competition, I've been working closely with adidas in many areas. Yours truly has since being seeded with NEO apparels which explains why I always wear adidas NEO :P I'm also the official adidas blogger for events, advertising, digital media, etc.

Besides that, am really honored and privileged to be chosen by adidas NEO global to be one of the NEO Contributors worldwide!

One day, I received my welcome gift from adidas NEO global, all the way from Germany! :)

I love how so much detail was being put into just the box!

Without even seeing what was inside, I was already in love with the whole box! Opened the box and checked out what was inside, mannnnn stuff that I don't see in Malaysia! Fresh!

Received loads of fun and colorful stuff for me to play and experiment with! Afterall, adidas NEO IS a young and fun brand! :)

What's inside the box:

---
1) NEO Green Laptop Holder
2) A case of Magnetic Color Cubes
3) A set of Crayon Pencils
4) A set of Mustache Finger Stickers (OMGGGG CUTE!!!)
5) Two Green Moleskine Notebooks (I LOVE MOLESKINE!)
6) A Mini USB Digital Camera
7) Of course, a creative welcome note from NEO! :)
---

I can't wait to get started with these fun stuff given to me! Will be posting up fun and interesting contents with these cute stuff, so stay tuned! ;)

In the meantime, here's what I've done so far.
Presenting my day-to-night NEO look!

Casual chic by day,
rocker chic by night ;)

A year into the NEO journey, and all I can say is...UNBELIEVABLE.

I never dared to imagine that I would one day be working directly with the adidas Brand Manager, and collaborating with adidas Global!

This is absolutely way beyond what I could ask or imagine. So thank you all who supported me by voting, cheering and standing by me all the way throughout my competition journey. Without you, I wouldn't have made it.

And of course, thank YOU. You who make all things possible, and more.

Will be comin up with some really fun & colorful contents in the upcoming posts.
So, stay tuned ;)

Casio TR150: Group Selca!

As I mentioned in my previous post about selca (self-capture), one of the things that we all hate the most about self-captured group photos, is that the one who holds the camera would usually look bigger, fatter and uglier than the rest.

But with my new Casio TR150 that I've been carrying with me everywhere I go, group shots have become easy, effortless, and pretty for everybody! ;)

No point just talking about it, so let's allow the pictures to speak for themselves!

Taken at the adiPure 360 Launch
Bloggers group shot with Bryan Gee (left), brand manager of adidas Malaysia :)

And this is the Emerge 2012 Cluster Leaders' birthday celebration with Pastor at his crib!
Decided we should cherish the moment by camhoring while halfway preparing steamboat :D

Group shots don't have to make the shooter look ugly anymore! I can even capture the photo by standing right in the middle! :)

Unless, of course, if you choose to look ugly ;)

The wide angle lens is awesome as it manages to fit everyone into the frame effortlessly!

Our "hardcore cha" session at Brussels :)

Aside from the Wide Angle lens that makes group shots possible and nicer, there's the Motion Shutter feature a.k.a. the timer feature that really makes group selca fun! We just simply tapped the LCD screen with our finger, and the timer activates :)

Me & my babes at E11 cell group! ;)
The TR150 was placed at the staircase when we took this pic. Makeup Mode: Level 6 :P

They were all so super in love & fascinated with the TR150. Truly every girls best friend :)

Timer group shot at my Pastor's crib.
I only placed it at the couch and there we have a perfect group shot! :)

Still many amazing features to be explored with the Casio TR150. Will be posting more soon!

In the meantime, you can check out the promos and details of the Casio TR150 as well as other awesome Casio cameras at the Casio Exilim Malaysia Facebook Page :)

adiPure 360: Born for the Gym

This new collection of trainers by adidas are simply remarkable! It is designed especially for the gym: light, extremely flexible, and fits just nice. Was one of the 10 lucky bloggers invited to the first stop of the adiPure 360 roadshow at Pavilion Concourse!

The first time I attended an event together with the sister.
Say hi to Gladys, everyone! She blogs too!

Check out her funny blog at www.gladys-tan.blogspot.com ;)

The gym themed set up of the event.

Bryan Gee, Brand Manager of adidas Malaysia explaining about the special features of the all new adiPure 360.

The event was hosted by YuJin, a fitness trainer who worked the Miss Universe Malaysia contestants hard at beauty camp. Magdeline Wang can testify! ;)

A demonstration on what the adiPure 360 can do. Yoga, body combat, dancing, and even GANGNAM STYLE! ;)

The Gangnam Style fever is stil ONZ.

Look at the various colors available for the adiPure 360 trainers!
Which color would you pick? :)

Here are some of the lucky ones who got to bring home a spankin' new pair of adiPure 360 home!

I'm sure you could easily recognize her from Miss Universe Malaysia 2011! ;)

Jessciat, the gym enthusiast!

Familiar faces of Bryan Lim, Gladys Tan (Too familiar! Haha) and Joshua Ong!

Sam Insanity, the famous 9gagger ;)

Bloggers who went home with their new pair of adiPure! :)

With the super fit Linora Low, host and Red FM Radio Announcer!

Group picta with the Brand Manager!

And of course, my lovely sister! Some say we look alike, some say not.
What say you? Do we look alike? :)

With YuJin the fitness instructor!

The set up was like a gym locker room. NAIS!

Anotha group picta ;)

So with much anticipation, I quickly unboxed my new babies the moment I got my hands on them!
I chose the color blue as I have this thing for the bluish/purplish shade.

The shoes are super light, I kid you not!

And super flexible too!

Checkizout! ;)

The adiPure 360 is made using super light and flexible materials, and features the latest in technology to support multidirectional movement. It is anatomically designed to provide comfort and support for every stretch, squat, exercise, and even run during your workout!

The design and flexibility of the adiPure 360 promotes unrestricted movement, and strengthens the muscles in the feet, toes, ankles, and lower legs, as opposed to what some trainers to do your feet- blisters! :/

The thorough explanation of all the special features of the adiPure 360.

This pair of trainers is especially designed for the gym, but it can also be worn for running, cycling, and other sports activities as well. I'm personally not an avid gym goer, but I do run pretty often, so this pair would come in handy for me! :)

You can check out the adiPure 360 for both men and women at the adidas Sports Performance Concept Stores in Pavilion, KLCC, Empire Subang, and The Gardens. Try them on, bend and twist them to see for yourselves, just how light, flexible and comfortable the pair truly is!

You can also find out more about the shoes at the ongoing roadshows happening all over Malaysia! The final stop of the roadshow would be happening this weekend, 26th-28th Oct at 1Borneo, Kota Kinabalu. Do drop by and check it out!

This pair retails at only RM350. And I can tell that it is absolutely worth the investment :)

11 Days

It's the 14th of November, 11 days after the 3rd of November, 2012.

This means, I'm legally, officially married to my best friend, one and only.

Here I am, sitting here typing away at our new dining table, while the husby watches his favorite HIMYM at our living room, just perhaps 10 feet away from me (size 5 feet, that is). Laundries are being hung in the living room (endless laundries from the week-long honeymoon!), while clothes and things that we moved in from our respective previous homes still sitting in our luggage.

11 days into married life. It's been amazing.

Amazing because now, we get to see each other so much more, everyday. The first person I see when I wake in the morning, the last person I kiss goodnight before snoozing like a pig that I'm expert at being. Amazing because I've a great husband who always wants the best for me, who always wants me to feel loved and pampered. Until now, I haven't had the opportunity to make my own breakfast yet! He's just so quick & sharp! He's amazing.

Of course, marriage is not glamorous or luxurious. The wedding might have been, but definitely not married life, and we were well aware of it. The laundries, dirty dishes (more dirty dishes when I actually start cooking. Before that happens, I'd need to first LEARN how to cook), the never-ending dusts of a newly renovated home, etc etc etc.

But to my surprise, it's actually pretty fun to do all of these, especially together. And it's much easier to do these house chores now than ever. Probably because we know we're doing this not just for ourselves, the house, but for each other and our 2-member family.

Lots of adjustments, especially on calling my new parents dad & mum. Hahah! All is well, and I'm just so happy and excited for what's ahead :) Loads to update I don't even know where to start!

Here's a little sneak of our wedding!

Photos stolen from my wedding guest, Lihui's blog! ;)

But for now, it's time to retire to bed. The husby has fallen asleep on the couch with HIMYM still playing.

So, goodnights, my faithful readers.

Casio Exilim Press Conference

Hello weekenders!

While waiting for my official wedding photos from my photographers for me to blog about the wedding, let me update a little about what's been happening :)

Attended and hosted the Casio Exilim Press Conference on 31st October 2012, just 3 days before my wedding :P I know I was supposed to be resting at home, eating birds nests and masking my face off but, I won't deny that I can sometimes be quite a workaholic ;)

Taken from my Instagram. Find me at @careentxy! :)

Cozy setting.

I don't know who took this shot, but whoever it was, thank you for making me look extra tall & slim from this angle :D

It was different emceeing for the Casio Exilim Press Conference as opposed to others, as I actually know so much about the brand and its cameras. Been using the Casio ZR20& Casio TR150, and while explaining about the features of the cameras, it really felt like a real life testimonial. Hahaha that's what happens when you're a user yourself :P

Not a very flattering photo of myself :P

Btw, I was told that I'd be given a sexy black Casio Ex JE-10 camera for the event. So I dressed up specially to suit the camera, and Phat Culture saved the day! Absolutely love love love the black sequinned dress + Black & Gold necklace from Phat Culture. Shop the look here: www.phatculture.com :)

The bosses from Casio, all the way from Japan! :)

Having worked in so many launches, press conferences and events all these years, I noticed that one thing which sets Malaysian speeches/presentations apart from Japanese's is that, the Japanese really put in 101% attention to details in everything that they say. They put so much thought into every word they chose to use, and I've got to say that I thoroughly enjoyed all the speeches/presentations/demonstrations. They were not boring at all! Something the rest of us Asians can learn from :)

I was privileged to be given the opportunity to interview and work with some of our top local celebs. They're all so pretty!

Jane Ng, actress & former radio deejay.

Koe Yeet, pretty actress from Ah Long Pte Ltd, Homecoming, just to name a few :)

Liyana Fizi, my fav local singer-songwriter. Watched her performance live once at PJ Live, and have become her fan since. Talented!

My fellow blogger friend, Dila Ariffall the way from our adidas NEO days a year ago! :)

The Press Conference also highlighted a few special range of Casio Exilim cameras. One of them would be the super pretty Casio Exilim JE-10 range which comes in 3 difference themes and colors!

They're such pretty accessories/cameras, I bet it took you a while to realize that there are actually 3 cameras sitting among the accessories in the photo ;)

I personally love love loveeeee this model! It comes with a leather camera case with straps attached. Best part is that camera cases & straps don't have to look ugly anymore! Here's one that's so pretty, it can easily be an accessory too! :)

This is in white, with a vintage feel & look to it.

This will be drool-worthy to all pink lovers out there!
So pretty!

While this would suit all the modern, cool & sophisticated ladies out there.
Absolutely love the prints on the leather case. Posh!

They're all so small that they can easily just fit into our little clutches/bags :)

Other Casio Exilim camera models on display. One thing's for sure, Casio really has amazing designs and colors for all their cameras. Gorgeous :)

These Casio cameras are specially designed for women, by women with all the needs/likings of us girls in mind. Makeup mode, self shot timers, you name it!

I see myself! :P
Take part in this Pink Beauty contest, and win yourselves a brand new PINK Casio Exilim camera!

Simply submit a self-capture/camho photo of yourself in pink, and stand a chance to win! It's that easy :) For more info, go to Casio Exilim Malaysia's Facebook pageand participate! :)

I walked home a happy girl cos Casio Exilim Malaysiahas decided to give me yet another Casio camera, the Casio Ex JE10! My third sponsored Casio camera so far, and I really can't ask for more. Thank you, Casio for being so super generous and amazingly awesome to me! :))

Now, the adventure of exploring with my new baby begins! Can't wait to share all the amazing pics captured with my new JE10! :)

Camera Review: Casio Exilim JE-10

$

Remember my previous post about emcee-ing for theCasio Exilim Press Conference?

Well, Casio was really kind to sponsor me with the super gorgeous Casio Exilim JE-10!

The Casio Exilim JE-10 series.
Available in Pink, Black & White.

Walked home with the Black & White JE-10 :)))
What's most special about this camera is definitely the outlook of it. It comes with a detachable camera case with strap, and each color has a different theme to it!

The Black JE-10 possesses a cool, classy and sophisticated look. Suitable for a night out partying, or a dinner date. It can basically go with any outfit, and adds a certain class to your overall look ;)

Comes with a leather case & adjustable strap too!

Another major plus point for the JE-10 is that it is really smallin size. To demonstrate, I got Boon to do a little illustration with me.

You see, yours truly has really small hands, and my hand can basically fit nicely into Boon's palm. Hahaha that's how small my hands/palms are.

And if the JE-10 can fit right onto my palm, it really just shows that the JE-10 is thatttttt small!

Look! This is really perfect for us girls who have a thousand and one things in our baobao/bags. With the strap attached, it becomes easier to search for the camera in our bags too!

While this is the JE-10 in white. It comes with a brown leather casing, and I've gotta say that this is my favorite amongs the three!

It has a golden ring around the lens, and gives an overall natural, vintage look. Suitable for those who have a simple/vintage style.

It's small even with the case on!

These are some of the pictures I captured over the past few weeks with the JE-10.

With the Premium Auto mode which is able to detect which suitable setting to be used to capture the photo.

This was taken in the car at The Curve parking lot. It was dark, but the Premium Auto mode automatically switches the setting to night scene, and managed to capture this picture with sufficient brightness :)

This was taken with the Premium Auto mode as well.
Missing these happy faces :')

It also has a couple of Best Shot features such as the Toy Camera mode, Light Tone, Pop, etc.

Auto Mode

Toy Camera Mode

Pop mode

My favorite mode of all has to be the Toy Camera mode. Gives a lomo-ish feeling to the pics!

Swim time with korkor!

Melody

Charity

Evangeline

Love the dark sides around the photo :)

5x Optical Zoom.
Could see the little rocks at the pool from my balcony :)

Light Tonemode.
Gives the photo a little dreamy feeling.

This is also one of my favs! The Pop mode :)
The colors immediately pops out distinctively!

Of course, what is a girly camera without the famous Casio Exilim feature- The Makeup Mode!
You can see the difference from the left photo (without Makeup Mode) to the right (Makeup Mode).

The Makeup Mode brightens, smoothens the skin and causes blemishes and fine lines to disappear from the photo! It's magical, I tell you! :))

This photo was also captured using the Self-portrait timer which is able to detect when you're ready for a picture. It'll only capture the photo when you're in frame. No more out of frame selca (self-capture) shots!

Now, you don't even have the press the shutter anymore! Just pose, and smile! :)

The JE-10 is also a really pretty fashion accessory!
This was me walking on the streets of Ubud, Bali.

With the camera hanging around my neck, I can easily capture moments quickly without having to scramble through my bag to look for my camera. Loving the camera loads :)

You would think that the camera would cost a bomb, but to my surprise, it is retailing for onlyRM649! It is design, quality and convenience all in one, and I personally think it is a great steal!

To know more about Casio Exilim JE-10, and where you can purchase it, you may Facebook message Casio Exilim at their Facebook Page HERE :)

Have a great weekend, all!
Happy Thanksgiving to you :)

Charles and Keith Warehouse Sale

$
0
0
All my life (which is actually not that long, but yeah, all my life), I'd only been to one warehouse sale...that was the Nose warehouse sales like 4-5 years ago.

I went on the very last day, and I only managed to grab a decent RM10 pair of 2-inch heels (last time trending) because UK Size 5 is a really popular size amongst Malaysian females, which I did not wear more than 2 times. In fact, it's already thrown away and I forgot how it looked like.

Since then, I'd been ignoring all the lampost banners on warehouse sales, be it sports warehouse sales, or even luxury brands such as Prada, Miu Miu, Gucci, etc. Because I believe that there's a reason why these items were selected to be sold at the warehouse. It's either they're old model/stock, they're ugly, they're faulty, or they're just trying to get rid of the shoes from their warehouses for new ones to fill the shelves.

But this time around, sooooooo many ppl on my Facebook had been posting about this Charles and Keith warehouse sale even weeks and days before the event. And just last night, so many of my girlfriends on FB expressed their excitement and anticipation for today's warehouse sale. But I also just ignored.

Was driving around town minding my own business and when I was on the way home, it suddenly dawned upon me WHY it was so jammed up on the way home at Sunway. Like, bumper-to-bumper crawl...at 3.30pm.

THEN, God spoke to me (no actually He didn't) and reminded me that it might be due to the Charles and Keith warehouse sales just right opposite my church! RIGHT OPPOSITE. So why not right? I also needed to collect some stuff from church (actually can collect some other day but my heart itchy so I braved the jam just to kepochi hehe).

Actually the jam was due to after-school pick-ups at Sri Sedaya but anyway, I happily drove into church and easily found myself a parking spot #likeaboss while other females had to round 50 times to find a decent space to park :))

To my surprise (sorry I'm not a seasoned warehouse shopper. This is only my pathetic second time), the warehouse sale was held at.........................

*drumrolls*

Wait for it, wait for it........

The BASEMENT PARKING LOT!

I was already thinking of U-turning and go home to beat the jam, but seeing so many eager female counterparts brisking into the place, I was tempted to find out just what is so great about this warehouse sale.

First things first, get your bags bagged.

This is obviously to prevent stealing...because there are too many people and too few guards around. They said there were CCTV surveillance but do you think they will call u up to catch you for stealing a RM50 pair of heels?

Ok maybe they will. But anyway let's move on.

So my advice to you is:

If you're planning on visiting the warehouse sale the following three days, do think twice before bringing your LVs, Channels and Pradas, because it won't be a sight to behold, seeing your baby being suffocated in a red plastic bag.

If possible, don't bring any bag. Don't bring any purses too. Just bring your boyfriend.
Just kidding :)

The stuff were divided into price ranges.

This makes it all easier to shop. But the problem is that to even get near enough to SEE the shoes, is already quite a challenge.

People turn into monsters at sales like these, and our female friends are no longer careful about not banging their boobs onto you/yours (hehe), and their boobs are now used as a weapon of attack. Because a natural reaction when you know that you're about to bang into someone (and their boobs), would be that you tend to avoid it by holding yourself back and freeze/just not move (right?). So when you get about 20 females doing that to you all the same time, you get scared and you won't dare to fight with them JUST so you can take a look at the shoes.

I managed to steal glimpses at the shoes a little here and there. They're okay, but they're old stocks la. They sell mostly 3-4 inch heels. And quite a few pretty pairs of ankle boots which I already sorta have.

Plus, I'm a killer-heels person, meaning, I only wear heels above 4 inches. Because I'm short. And because I simply don't see the point of wearing 2-3 inch heels. It doesn't flatter your figure, and it doesn't really add to your height much. Well, that's my fashion theory/principle :) *intellectual*

Because the girls had gone wild (literally), they had to put fences around the shoes as they're still setting up. You and I know what will happen if the fence were not there. The heels will turn into flats.

For me to take this shot was a challenge in itself. The girls were holding on and sticking to the fences like prisoners desperate to escape. And while waiting for the sales assistants to setup, they were already discussing and confirming on which pair of heels to get. All I can say is, WOAH.

Some girls took half day of just to get to this sale. Some took the entire day off.

Some came prepared with comfortable, loose fitting and thin clothes, while some came in woolen long sleeves (wahahahaaha!). Some came with flats and flip flops for easy removal and trying on of shoes, while some came in 5-inch strappy heels and boots (major epic fail!).

And those guys who accompanied their gfs/wives/sisters/mothers were sweating like cows, major sweating like those that flow down from your forehead, dripping down to your chin (I'm not kidding/dramatizing on this one) because there were only a couple of standing fan in a basement carpark. I saw major makeup melting on girls, and it was just not a pretty sight.

And of course, the worst and most cruel thing any human being can do at situations like these, is to FART! I'm serious! Please be considerate! Air is already scarce...don't make it any more miserable for us.

I'm not anti-warehouse sales. But I'm just narrating the scenes from this afternoon, from my personal experience. Do check out the sale if you can withstand the long queues and the stuffiness, you might get yourself some good buys :)

I walked out of the sale empty handed. Reason simply being, nothing attracted me, and I have no shoe-cravings at the moment :) of course, the environment did contribute to me wanting to leave as fast as I could.

So, shop wisely, and always remember that you may not even like or wear what you buy (personal experience!). Don't be swept away by the 50% sign. Be a smart shopper ;)

*

Have a great Thursday night, and a fruitful shopping at the sale ;)

What's in the First Month of Marriage?

Unbelievable.
You mean we've been married for a month already??

It feels like just yesterday that we gathered in church 2 days before the wedding to have our wedding rehearsal. Dated: Nov 1, 2012.

Yes, there is wedding rehearsal in my church to make sure that the couple and the bridal party know exactly what to do, where to stand, how fast to walk, and coordinate with the live band, music, etc. I'd say it really helps to calm the nerves on the actual day, knowing what needs to be done and lessen the chances of having awkward mistakes.

Daddy and I rehearsing our walk down the wedding aisle (our imaginary red carpet hehe).

Could take that opportunity to "break" my heels too! Break as in soften and condition the heels so that it wouldn't hurt as bad on the actual day.

Our dedicated violinists who played live for our bridal march. They were all my friends, and were so professional though we were close. They took their tasks really seriously, and made on-the-spot changes to how we preferred. Amazing musicians :)

And of course, that's Wei Jean at the back making sure she knows just when to play the track when we march out as husband and wife! She was there the whole evening just for that one part. Isn't she just wonderful? :)

Not forgetting the sound crew who made himself available at the very last minute to set up the sound system for our rehearsal. CHCKL is just full of amazingly dedicated people. So grateful :')

Photo taken by our wedding guest, stolen from Instagram.

Very quickly, the very day that we've been planning for a whole year has finally come. The day when we officially declared our love and commitment to each other in front of all the people who mattered to us, and pledged our lives together henceforth. It was a beautiful day :) Dated: Nov 3, 2012.

When they say that your wedding day passes by real quickly, it is TRUE! Knowing that, I told myself to fully cherish and savor every moment of the day. Though extremely tiring, but I was enjoying every single moment, and every single facial muscle ache (all the bridal smiles hehe).

Before we knew it, it was our wedding dinner reception! Both of us decided to let our hair down, forget about any glitches that could potentially happen, and just eat (I ate more than I expected. Food was too good I couldn't care less about maintaining my bridal poise. Not so demure afterall hahah), drink and just have fun with our guests! At the end of the day, we just wanted to be married to each other. As long as nobody stands in our way on that day (and the rest of our days, amen), we would be happy people.

Any other small glitches that many deem as something serious meant nothing to us.
As long as we had each other.

P/S: I pinky pwomise that I will blog about my wedding day soon! Waiting for the photos from my official photographer. Wanna do up a thorough post complete with photos to describe the moments. Will do so right after I get hold of all the pictures! :)

2 days after our wedding, we flew off for our Honeymoon, baybeh!

Spent a week in beautiful Bali, took our revenge on food and attacked all the pork we could find :D
Balinese cuisine rawks.

Not forgetting the breathtaking sceneries of Bali. We had so much fun that it really saddened us to leave that beautiful island. Will blog about the trip in detail, where to go to hunt for food and where to visit soon! :)

As for yesterday, we've been married for one month.
I guess it's really true when they say that time flies when you're having a good time :)

Within this one month, aside from people asking, "How was your honeymoonnnnn???"with a slight smirk and hamsap look on their faces, we've had many friends asking us about how married life has been.

Some asked in a sincere and interested manner, while some asked with a skeptical tone, sort of anticipating for a sad and disappointed reply saying that marriage has been tough and that I'd warn them NOT to get married so young! Okay a bit dramatic, but some people really do think that the honeymoon stops at, well, the honeymoon.

I'd normally pause and think before I reply to that question, as I, myself would love to truly think it through instead of immediately giving a standard answer of, "Ohhhh, marriage is perfect. It's beautiful!". It's good that I occasionally evaluate it myself too.

The easiest way to evaluate is of course, stating the good and the bad, the pros and cons.

The amazing stuff about being married:

#1: You both get to see each other everyday.

Before this, we had to always specially plan to meet and spend time with each others amidst our busy schedule. Sometimes, we would even yumcha til late and sacrifice our sleep just to spend time with each other, and then suffer panda eyes while Boon has "fishing activities" in the office. Don't get me wrong. We enjoyed it, and it's fun and special to make plans just to spend time. It's sweet.

But now that we live under the same roof, we know that no matter how busy a day may be, we would be returning to the same home, and into each other's arms by the end of the day. It's a really nice feeling...knowing that your other half is waiting for you to come home every night. To a place only you both share. I really enjoy this new change :)

Of course, if you have already cohibitated or lived together before you get married, this wouldn't be a new thing in your marriage. This is also one of the reasons why we never lived together, or even stayed over night before this. Because we believe that we create our own magic. We wanted to reserve this freshness only in our marriage. And I'm glad we made that decision :)

#2: You save lots of time + money

Okay, I know this doesn't sound too romantic. But let's be real and look at it realistically. Previously for the past 8 years, Boon who lived in PJ had to go to USJ to pick me to wherever we headed towards next.

Sometimes when we decide to paktoh in PJ, he had to travel from PJ - USJ - PJ - USJ (to send me home) - PJ (to go home). This is still okay if it's at odd timings or weekends, but if we meet the rush hours (you know how USJ traffic is like), Boon sometimes spends 2-3 hours on the road just because we live apart.

But now that we live together, we go everywhere together (unless we have our separate appointments). There's no need to send me home at night anymore (yayyy no curfew and angry daddy :P), and that also means petrol consumption and expenses have been cut by half!

Previously when we wanted to spend time together, our choices were pretty limited to just yumcha, movie, shopping...all of which required $$$. This is not a date that I'm talking about, but merely an excuse to spend time with each other, simply because we had no where else to go.

But now, there's no need to go somewhere just to "spend time" with each other. There are so many other ways that we can spend time with each other now. And the best part is, money is not necessarily needed for us to spend time together now. Watching the AMA's together at home, or movie night on our cozy couch is enough to make us happy and contented :)

#3: You...settle down.

Many people asked me WHY I want to get married this young, at 22. This topic could be a full blog post if I really wanna go into it. Probably another time. But really, when you're married, life comes to a more stable routine.

I, now, wake up in the morning (like, earlyyyyyy), send my husby to work, come home, sleep some more sometimes (like, only 99% of the time...), have breakkie, and work on my blog posts, online boutique, and tonnes of other work. In between work, as a wife (a young, cute wife. This word needs to be redefined *defensive*), I make sure that laundry is done so that my husband has clothes to wear to work, dishes are done so that we won't have uninvited "guests" living in our home, and the floor is clean so that my husband won't catch a flu. And then, I pick my husband up from work and we go party like it's 2012.

Kidding.

Everyday is pretty much the same. House chores needed to be done by either of us (although he seems to be much more interested and have more initiative than me *gulps*), and we can't just sulk like babies and not wake up early anymore (though sometimes I still do sulk when I wake up at freakingggg 7am!!!).

But I've come to realize and accept that this is actually good. Good for us. Good for me too (the waking up early part). I'm really not a structured person, but a little bit of order in life is good :)

#4: You love (even) more.

In the security of a marriage, you know for sure that the both of you are committed to each other. This gives you the peace and assurance to love even greater, and to give to each other even more freely, with no reservations.

Previously when we were still in courtship, I wouldn't deny the love we had for each other. But we were still not married. There were certain things that we did not do, boundaries we did not cross. No matter how much you love, you can't fully give your 101% to the other. You shouldn't anyway, because nothing's for sure...yet.

Of course you might say that the one you married might cheat and leave you the same, etc, but I'm all about faith and trust so I don't even wanna bother worrying and being anxious about my husband cheating. So, let's not get there ;)

But now, you know that he/she's the one, and nothing's gonna change that. He or she's the only one you got, and the only one you're gonna have. All the love that you stored up for the best, you finally give it ALL. I'm not saying that this is definite for everybody, and I'm not implying that everyone ought to adopt the same values and beliefs. Just sharing my view and story, and that it worked for us :)

Having stated all the good stuff about marriage, there are also the not-so-happy stuff too. Aside from disagreements that any couple would have as long as they're alive and normal, there's an evident thing that might irk most newlyweds:

HABITS.

Probably because we've been dating for 8 years, I've already seen most of his habits and accepted most of them. But when you're living together, we discover a whole lot of stuff you didn't know before.

For me, what I discovered was not really bad, but it's definitely shocking.

Discovery: He is actually a super hygienic and clean person.

Which is awesome! I mean, the last thing I want is to live with a messy, smelly and dirty fella all my life! So, this is great news!

But the part that could be a bit hard to get used to, is the fact that......

........he's cleaner and tidier than me. Like, way cleaner and tidier than me.

He brought the word cleanliness to a whole new level.

I may sound dramatic but here are some examples:

#1:
He will NEVER leave any rubbish stay overnight in the kitchen rubbish bin. I could live with that as long as it doesn't stink and "uninvited guests" don't come around. I will throw the rubbish....when the bin is filled or at least half-filled. But he'll just throw JUST IN CASE they start to stink, even if the bin is 1/10 filled.

#2:
He will ALWAYS remove hair in the bathroom drainage trap every single time he uses the bathroom! I mean, us girls would know that this is a never ending business. Our hair falls are extreme and super regular, so removing all the hair from the drainage every time is just...troublesome. Plus, seeing your hair at the drainage is just discouraging. Reminding us that we are getting old (though I have no idea if it's related. But it's just jot a pleasant sight). I could live with removing them a few times in a week...when the trap is blocking the water from flowing :P

Okay I think all of you will stop reading my blog after knowing I'm actually so disgusting. If ever you decide to stop reading this disgusting blog, always remember that your presence here has made a great impact in my life and that I'll miss you :(

There are many other examples but I better stop before all of you decide to unfollow me onTwitter and unfriend me on Facebooktoo.

So yeah, you get my point. He's just this super tidy, disciplined, orderly, upright, hardworking, motivated and  almost perfect human being while I'm this sleepy, hungry, free flow, creative, crazy, not-everyday-also-this-hardworking girl. We're just really different, but I can assure you that you'll have more fun with me! ;) *kiasu*

Anyways, what I meant to say is that in this one month, there have been plenty of adjustments to be made in both our lives. Some adjustments could be not so easy to get used to (like waking up early, and probably for Boon, living with a piggg). But we're actually having fun making these adjustments, and going through the blunders of buying overpriced veggie and household items at the wrong places.

We've already prepared ourselves way ahead that marriage will not be a bed of roses. Still, we're enjoying every ups and downs, and no, I still will not tell you to not get married young. It's the best decision I have ever made :)

As long as we have Him in the center, as the shelter for the both of us,
we'll be living under open heaven.

Here's a reset to our counter:

"Happy 1st Monthsary...all over again :)
I'm the happiest and luckiest girl alive everyday. Thanks for loving me so selflessly.
Here's to many more monthsaries to come! I love you, husby :)"

Before I start writing anything else, I'm gonna give out a BIGGGG *PHEWWWWW*

It's been so long since I had a night in at home to just sit in front of my lappie, choose and edit my photos and blog about whatever I like! Been so busy that almost each time I had the time to blog, it would be about another advertorial...which is something I feel extremely sorry about to all my readers :(

Although I do always try to make my advertorials as real, honest and interesting as possible, but that's besides the point. Sooooo here's one that is purely about me and my updates! :)

Oh btw, the picture above was taken with my iPhone 4S front camera, and this one below was taken with the husby new iPhone 5 front camera. Major difference? :)

Aztec Tube Dress from www.phatculture.com :)
Check out with the code:
PhatCareen and get 20% off all Phat Culture items! ;)

Was supposed to also get my iPhone 5 by now already, but due to some contract issues, I can only change mine in perhaps 2 month's time. Can't wait to have a better front camera to selca with ;)

Anyway, for the past 2 months, I've been busy with this!

We practiced twice to 3 times per week starting with running the script with Pastor & Esther who were the director and producers of the drama production. If you didn't already know, my church,City Harvest Church KL regularly puts up drama productions. And they never fail to be epic! Thanks to my pastor & his wife who puts in so much thought into making a drama production relevant to the people :)

Ghosting was a drama production about how everyone has a story to tell, their dark secrets to hide. How every family has its struggles, and every relationship its obstacles. Life is indeed a drama, a love story, and everything else in between.

This time around, I played the role Amanda who is a successful property agent, and in the midst of filing for divorce with her husband who cheated with a girl 10 years younger. Things stemmed from the fact that Amanda couldn't conceive, and also that her struggling artist husband couldn't bring money home.

It's all very real...most marriages fail because of money & infidelity. It was definitely a challenge for me this time around as I had to go from comical + sampat, to mean and emotional, to angry and resentful, then to warm and loving. Plus, I had to act, sing and dance altogether! And I'm not the best singer in the world so that was really stressful for me *sweats*.

The whole drama production was an emotional roller coaster ride for me, and at the end of the 3-day production, I was just completely exhausted and drained out, and all I wanted to do was just to SLEEP & EAT!

Having said that, after committing my time, energy and focus on memorizing scripts, perfecting my dance and singing, and boiling my emotions for my character, I'm at the end of the day a very happy, honored child of God who just wants to give her best and her ALL to serve Him.

Call me religious, holy or church-y, but I absolutely have no qualms shouting about the fact that I love Jesus, He's my savior, my all, and all I want to do is to honor Him :) It's such an honor and privilege to use my gifts and talents that He has blessed me with to serve Him back. I just love, love, love to serve.

I always end up not taking enough pictures for every production that I've been involved in, and this time around, it's the same -.- Here are some of the photos I remembered to take hehe.

This is David Oh, whom I have acted alongside for countless CHCKL productions. We always acted as father & daughter, but this time around, he was my marriage counselor :P

Meet Coleen Yap& Alexis Wan Chean, who acted as my mother and sister. Their vocals are unbelievably strong and powerful! Superb singers!

And of course, the performance that stole all of ours hearts. Meet The Celebes Boys! Officially my favorite boy band! :)

If you want to know why we're all so in love with The Celebes, you have to get the Ghosting DVD from Readz Bookstore. If you missed the production, you can catch everything in the DVD :)

Me & my husby (& my sister, Albert Koh).

I know you guys must be jelak from all the mushy things I "express" about my husby, but this is my blog and I'm feeling sentimental all so please excuse me :D

I just wanna give a shout out to my one and only husby who never failed to be there for me throughout this busy and challenging season. For staying with me until late at night in church for rehearsals, for watching the rehearsals again and again and again until you can memorize everything and fall asleep during production :P

And thanks for driving me to church early for standby like, 3 hours before service times for all 3 days. You're an absolutely amazing guy, and I'm just so super blessed to have a husby like uuu *blush*

Meet Michelle, my dear friend (and my sister, Lex Low).

The heroes behind Ghosting, Esther & Pastor Kevin Loo.
I must say that they are two of the most dedicated people I've met, and I absolutely respect and *heart* them both.

From the very start, both Pastor & Esther sat with all the main casts to go through our lines time after time, just to make sure we get the right message about the script, and feel the right emotions they intended for the production.

At each practice, they fine tune and edit our scripts until they're perfect. Every single intonation, words, pronunciation were taken into careful considerations, and it is truly because of their dedication and attention to details that made Ghosting such a heart-wrenching, real and relevant drama production.

Besides the love for acting and performing, one of the main reasons why I always love to be involved in church productions is because I get to work closely with Pastor & Esther, and learn about all the values that they carry. It's really through all these that I learn to become more excellent, willing and just better as a person.

The entire cast & crew of Ghosting (excluding the media crew). It's one of the smallest cast & crew team in the history of CHCKLproductions, but it's one of the most impactful and excellent productions ever...especially the dancers this time around. Amazinggggg.

Curtain call & part of the crowd at Ghosting :)

At the end of the production, the crowd would get to vote for who they think Michael should choose. Should he go back to his wife, Amanda, or leave Amanda to be with Jess, his pregnant girlfriend? It's a tough choice indeed.

Guess who else were there for the entire 3 days of production? ;)

My dear family was so supportive, and came for all 3 services including the little ones! :)

It's the first time I'm involved in a production and not return home at the wee hours. Dad & mum used to be the ones waiting by the door for me to return at 3-4am, but this time around they could sleep soundly heheh :)

Manjakins & their korkor.

Went home after lunch, slept like a log, and pampered myself with some best cheesecakes in the world!

RM10/piece cheesecake from Artisan, TTDI. It's absolutely worth the price cos it's too good. Could gobble the whole thing in 10 secs if I didn't control myself!

Oh, and today, we finally have time to take a good look at our fridge and see what we could experiment with this time around! Can't believe we managed to cook a decent, edible meal afterall :')

Scrambled eggs with onions, cabbage with mini prawns (what do you call it?), and soy sauce chicken. We spent close to 45 mins cooking, but finished everything within 10 mins. Ok lah shows that our cooking quite nice ;)

So while I'm typing away, husby just finished assembling our bedside tables (after sitting in the boxes for a week). We finally have bedside tables!!! Great to have an engineer in da houz :P

Ok there you have it. A boring post about me, my feeling and my food.

Looking forward to the days ahead which includes a lot of time at home, a lot of blog posts to write, and a lot of fwens to catch up with! :)

Have you Pirq'd?

Advertorial

I recently came across this unique deals app called pirq. It is a new app in Malaysia from the USA which provides details about deals and discounts from outlets near you!

This is the official pirq Malaysia website.
Check it out at www.pirq.com.my!

Thepirq app is available for free download to all iPhone and Android users. It has a clean and user-friendly interface, easily accessible even for people like me who aren't too tech savvy :P

To me, one of the best features about pirq is that after locating your current location, pirq displays deals that are nearest to you right at the top, followed by deals from other further locations.

It also shows you how many miles you are away from your nearest deal location!

For me, my current location is at Aman Suria. So pirqdisplays the nearest deal to me which is just at Sunway Giza, followed by Damansara, 1 Utama, and so on...

...up until the furthest away from my current location, which is at Mont Kiara and Kepong!

Aside from discovering deals nearest to you, you can also find out deals at various other cities!

Just go to 'Cities', and choose the city of your choice! You'll be sure to find a deal that is nearest to you :)

Another great feature of pirqis that it provides all the important details you need with just a few clicks away. For example, when you click on the deals, it shows you the discount as well as the duration of discount on which specific day.

Once you click on it, it shoes you the rules/terms and conditions of the deal as well, so that we wouldn't be misled. Everything is displayed properly and clearly :)

To 'Redeem', you have to 'scan' the tag located at the restaurant or outlets themselves. Else, you can always just 'Reserve for later', which you can also 'Unreserve' if you are unable to make it, or if you changed your mind :)

You can check how much you have redeemed and how much money you have saved by redeeming these discounts at your 'My Deals' column. You can also check your redemption history too!

I personally find this really brilliant, especially for most of us who have a hard time deciding what to eat on a daily basis! This app just makes the decision-making much easier. Just decide on the nearest deal! :)

Besides that, you can stand a chance to win a brand new iPad Mini just by heading over to pirq Malaysia's Facebook Page and play the pirq Hunter game! :)

Go to the pirq Hunter appHERE, and start hunting! :)

That's all from me!
Happy pirq-ing ;)

2012.2012

$

It's 2012.2012 today.
And this post was published at 12.20pm. Just for the sake :P

But surprisingly, as compared to 12.12.12, there isn't much hype going around today. Guess it don't matter, baybeh! The end of the worldis tomorrow, and nobody really cares about 2012.2012 anymore :P

Many have asked me about the predictions of the world ending on 21.12.2012, and whether I believe it would come to past. Honestly, I didn't know nuts about this Mayan civilization/calendar thingy until so many people started talking about 21 Dec 2012. Shows I don't really care much about these things. If the world ends, I'm ready to meet my daddy in Heaven anytime.

It started to get my attention when I saw quite a few of my friends fearing for their lives and having sleepless nights just because of this. Many of them feel very uncertain as to whether it's true.

Most people I come across do not believe that the world would end tomorrow, and that they think maybe it's just the end of an era and the beginning of another. But then again, none of us can be TOO SURE that it won't happen.

Ryan Higa is one of the many who doesn't believe in it at all.

For me, whenever I hear predictions that the world would end on a particular day, I would usually not believe. This is simply because I'm convinced that if God would allow the world to end, it would come suddenly, and not when the whole world is sitting on beanies in the park, looking up to the sky and videoing what is about to happen.

Since young, I've always believed in these verses in the Bible:

Thessalonians 2:7
"...for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night."

2 Peter 3:10
"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare."

Revelations 16:15
"Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed."

I've always believed that the end of the world and the second coming of Jesus would catch us off-guard. Don't ask me why...I'm just convinced so as according to the Bible :)

But then IF, IF the world really ends tomorrow
what would you do for the remaining hours of your time on earth?

I never really thought about it until today. So IF the world really ends tomorrow anytime between 7.30am-6pm, I would either die/get raptured/left on earth alone cos Boon would be at work. Hahaha and if it happens after that, then we wouldn't be able to make it to Local U Cluster's Christmas Party, or we would be halfway eating at Food Industrie cafe :P

Just kidding. But seriously, IF it really CONFIRMED is the last day tomorrow, here's what I'll do:

#1:
Withdraw all the money that Boon and I have

#2:
Gather both Boon and my family to either of our houses

#3:
Spend all our money to buy FOOD: All the wines, turkey, lobster, salmon, milo (I'll miss milo more than anything), ice-cream, sinful foods, steamboat and BBQ all the pork, chicken and lamb in the world, food we never allowed ourselves to spend money on, and all the sinful & fatty foods, and just FEAST.

#4:
Hire a live band, dance the night away partying at the poolside

#5:
Call all my dearest family members & friends who can't be with me and tell them how much I love them, and that I'll see them soon in heaven

#6:
Read the Bible, pray and get myself ready to meet my Boss!

#7:
Cuddle with Boon in bed until something happens *aww*

These are just the simple things that I'll do :) What about you?

If it really, CONFIRMED is the end of the world tomorrow, and you know it today,
what would you do? :)

It's really worth thinking about, as it would show you what truly matters in your life. For me, it's obvious that my husband, family and friends matter most to me. And food. And milo. Hahaha!!

Share with me about yours! ;)

Capital FM 88.9's First Anniversary Party: A Girly Affair

Yours truly was one of the few MHB bloggers invited to attend Capital FM 88.9's First Anniversary Party last Sat, 15th December 2012.

Was absolutely excited as I always listen to Capital FM while driving, and I frequently tune in to My City with Patricia K, Jam Break with Liang & Deborah, as well as Groovedown with Priscilla Seelan. These are the few of my favorite segments at Capital FM! :)

Anyway, these are a few of my selca photos taken while the husby drove me to the all-ladies party :D

No men allowed (except a few like Liang and the staff of Capital FM, the musicians from the band, and the hot guys who served us ooooo read on!), so the husby waited for me at the lobby of G Tower, reading his book and sipping tea like a Datuk while I was having a ball at Bridge Bar, getting my well-deserved girly treatments all thanks to Capital FM :D

Okay enough.

Before the event, I heard that it was gonna be a party for the ladies, filled with pampering sessions, music and good food! True enough, the entire party was organized to make us the female species happieeeee :D

Capital FM, the first and only woman's radio station in Malaysia turned ONE on 15th December 2012! I still remembered the first time I heard about this station which I thought wasn't too long ago, and now it's already 1 year old! :)

In the past year, Capital FM had quickly become a favorite amongst Klang Valley listeners, and I'm one of them!

When asked what makes listeners tune in to 88.9 FM, it's summed up that "Capital FM is a modern day woman's information hub with relevant topics and great music."

So when we ladies arrived at Bridge Bar, G Tower, we were all given unique "guestbooks" to sign on ;)

Group photo with a bunch of hunky models/ushers.
Capital FM sure knows how to make ladies feel happy, ey? :P

We drew lots to see which pampering session we were entitled to. Some of the ladies got to go for a nice mini hair makeover by Miko Hair Studio and Academy, while some got to do a makeup session by the experts from Laura Mercier!

Yours truly got to do a manicure overlooking the twin towers, baybeh!

While the ladies get their pampering sessions at either 3 stations,
there were lots of happening activities going on at the party!

Juwita Suwito & Liang serenaded the crowd with their powerful voices!

Capital FM's A-lister announcers- Joanne Kam, Xandria Ooi, Liang, Priscialla & April Kwan were all present to celebrate with their listeners.

And that's Capital FM's General Manager, Ms. Lynette Ow in the middle giving a thank you speech to all the faithful listeners who made it possible for Capital FM 88.9 :)

Miss World Malaysia 2012, Lee Yvonne was also present to give out lucky draw prices to all the guests!

The grand prize of the lucky draw session was a luxury getaway for 2 to Phuket, with a 4-day 3-night stay at Aleenta Resort with addtional RM2K cash for flights. SHOOOOO NAIS!

It's been years since I last met and caught up with this hottie!
Used to work and sampat together, and I'm just so glad to see where she is right now :)

Also met with many familiar faces at the party! Say hi to the gorgeous MHB bloggers:)

Thanks toSarah May Lowfor these amazing group selca photos above! :)

OOTD:

Was wearing the Aztec Tube Dress by Phat Culture Online Store
Absolutely love the prints, colors, and how it fits me like a glove! :)

Also met up with the pretty Choo Mei Szeat the party!
Look at those deep dimples! *love*

The sunlight was perfect. I just had to.

With the pretty Jane Schwan

Pretty pink roses were placed all around. Purdy!

Also met up with Sabrina Quigley Chinat the party! So good to catch up after years.
Oh, she's the one who manages all the hunky models at He & She Management :)

Sweetie Linora Low!

I especially loved the part where Joanne Kam does a stand-up comedy. She's so brutally frank and open, and it was just a hilarious session with all her hamsap 18SX jokes! Totally cracked the crowd up!

The unique Birthday Cake, cream & purple cupcake tower.

Xandria Ooi (Announcer), Lynette Ow (General Manager of Capital FM), & Joanne Kam (Announcer).

The menu of the party, with my cute little Capital FM birthday cupcake :)

With Linora& Yvonne at the photowall.

We were all given a stalk of daisy, and a fabulous goodie bag filled with stuff from Zalora, Khiel's, Laura Mercier, MAC, and many more!

All in all, the party was really well-organized by the ladies, for the ladies. It was filled with well thought out programmes and activities to make us girls happy, and I came out of the party a real happy guest! :)

Lastly, I just wanna wish Capital FM a HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY!!!
Stay awesome, and keep playing tunes & discussing topics that we ladies love and need to know of :)

Tune in to Capital FM at 88.9 for Klang Valley.
